Aeration
Residential Lawn Aeration for Stronger, Healthier Grass
Lawn aeration, sometimes called core aeration is one of those lawn care services that most people are not familiar with. But most people have seen the benefits of it on a golf course. Golf courses are aerated on a consistent basis to keep the grass looking perfect all of the time.
It is important to understand what aeration is and why it is important for your lawn. Aeration is the naturally occurring process of air exchanges between the soil and its surrounding atmosphere. So when we perform an aeration service our equipment removes small plugs of soil and thatch from your lawn which improves the natural soil aeration reducing soil compaction, allowing your grass to grow deeper roots and utilize water and fertilizer more efficiently.

What can lawn aeration do for my Hendersonville lawn?
Aeration improves the soil environment where your grass roots grow. Removing small cores of soil helps relieve compaction and creates space for increased air exchange. This gives roots improved access to oxygen and encourages them to grow deeper and stronger.
Will aeration help my lawn absorb rain and irrigation?
It can make a significant difference when compacted soil is preventing water from penetrating properly. Aeration opens channels in the soil so moisture can move downward instead of collecting on the surface. This can reduce water puddling and runoff while helping more water reach the root zone.
Will aeration help my fertilizer reach the grass roots?
Does aerating improve fertilizer performance?
Can aeration help grass withstand dry weather?
A lawn with a stronger root system is better positioned to handle environmental stress. Aeration encourages healthier root development by improving access to air, water, and nutrients. Deeper roots can make better use of available soil moisture, helping increase drought tolerance.
Can aeration reduce thatch in my lawn?
How can aeration help with thatch?
Why is aeration important for long-term lawn health?
Healthy turf starts below the surface. By reducing soil compaction and improving air exchange, water absorption, and nutrient availability, aeration gives your grass a better foundation for growth. The result can be stronger roots, improved drought tolerance, less runoff and puddling, and better overall lawn health.
Lawn Seeding
Cost-Effective Lawn Seeding for Lasting Results
Whether you are looking to seed a large area or just some bare spots in your lawn, seeding is typically the most cost effective way to get great results. Performance Lawns has over 15 years of experience seeding lawns in the area.
If your like most homeowners deciding the best way to get a lawn for your home can be a tough decision. You have several options including sod, seeding, or hydro seeding. Although sodding your yard will deliver the fastest result it is also the most expensive option available. Most people would think that hydro seeding would be the next best option but actually if your yard is properly prepared and seeded you will typically end up with a better result from a proper seeding of the yard.

Hydroseeding
What is Hydro Seeding?

Hydro seeding is marketed very well and is advertised to be the best solution for getting grass in your yard. But what exactly is hydro seeding? Hydro seeding is when you mix water, regular old grass seed, fertilizer, and mulch (typically shredded newspaper) in to a large container where the seeds are completely soaked with water causing all the seeds to germinate at the same time which causes them to grow "magically" all at the same time after it is applied. Not really all that magical when you think about it, and although it works well along the highway and other larger applications Most of the time a residential lawn is better suited for just a regular lawn seeding.
Types of Lawn Seeding Services Offered:
- Kentucky Bluegrass
- Fescue
- Ryegrass
For fescue lawns, keep in mind that Bermuda grass that has spread into an established fescue lawn is extremely difficult to manage. Our goal with fescue lawns is generally to help limit the spread of Bermuda and keep it out as much as possible, rather than promise it can be fully eliminated once established.
